SAN DIEGO, CA, December 1, 2017
The California Public Utilities Commission recently approved the following changes, effective December 1, 2017. These changes may vary somewhat for different pricing plans, but there are three things you need to know.
1. Seasonal Periods:
There are two seasonal periods. Summer (Jun 1 to Oct 31) and Winter (Nov 1 to May 31). Naturally, prices are higher in the summer when electricity is used most.
2. Time of Use Periods:
Demand and prices are highest during the On-Peak period (4PM to 9PM), every day, all year-round. By shifting your energy use to off-peak hours, you will pay less and help decrease the demand on the electric grid, which ultimately benefits the environment.
3. Event Day Hours:
An Event Day can happen on any day that conservation is needed to help ensure public safety or stabilize the power grid. To receive Event Day notifications, log in to your SDGE account and select Alerts and Subscriptions.

What Does This Mean For Me?
If you use a high volume of electricity, now, more than ever, is the time to go solar. You can grandfather in the best savings if your solar system is up and running by March 31st, 2018. Otherwise, be prepared for your electricity bill to start increasing.
